Ecosystem drivers like Amazon, Google, Alibaba dominate because they have high levels of customer data. Importantly, they act on it.  Their enterprise design thinking is constantly evolving entities, built around the customer and focused on creating experiences that delight them.  They are data fluid, highly intelligent and seemingly infinitely scalable. As a result, they can define the distribution channels and shape markets.  The superpower that underpins this is that they respond to the human paradigm, versus those businesses that obsess over maximizing distribution and minimizing cost.

However, the challenge for insurers is how to unlock this superpower, and become more human?

Freeing human capital, driving experiences and engaging people in new ways.  Thus moving ‘insurance’ from grudge purchase, commoditized and bought by price, to a valuable and appreciated transaction?  Or do insurers need to sometimes disappear, act like modular producers such as PayPal and just make the benefits of insurance easy, immediate, real-time and seamless in our lives and businesses?  In this first session we will explore the “be more human” paradigm in the context of claims.

How can we use the machine to be better for humans at a time when, arguably, they need insurance the most? What stops this from happening and what's the real human value of doing this?
